For the nordic ski racer Rode Violet just might be better than owning the "One" ring. When new snow is close to that frustrating zero centigrade temperature, Rode VIiolet is the first tin to reach for. Remarkably resistant to icing, remarkably fast, reliable grip. For those that only occasionally see those conditions it might be the only wax you need in the kit. For those who live in coastal climates, it can be considered the benchmark test to try before deciding if more grip or more glide is necessary.
- Rode lists the "Middle Europe" temperature as 0C°. For North America, think Rockies
- The "North Europe" range is listed as -2°/-4°C°. For us, think maritime climates
- Even with a wax kit full of fluorinated kick wax, in that nasty zero range this wax often beats them out
