Mountain Hardwear South Col 70 Backpack - Fall 2013
Built to Last
This Mountain Hardware South Col 70 backpack is simply designed and has ample room. The yellow accent model is from 2012. The orange is from the Fall of 2013. Now they have a waterproof material model, for 2014, called the Out Dry. This backpack is made of tough materials, and remains extremely lightweight for its size. Only one mid-section support stay with a large accompanying corrugated panel behind it are both removable. This pack can handle an additional 500 cubic inches with the top extended. Plus, it has strategically placed compression straps to shorten the load. It comes with two waist belts for carrying different weighted loads; and you can even use this pack without them attached. It's a top loader, but it's highly functional; and appropriate for overhead plane storage due to it's shape and lack of multiple outside pockets. But, it does have two easily zippered storage pouches. One in the top flap, and another almost running the length of the pack inside. Nice looking and supportive. It's in the expedition and mountaineering class of packs; and it's designed very well. I found OMC Gear to have the best pricing and selection of sizes available. They are an honest company who carries quality products. Don't think twice about dealing with OMC Gear. They are a top-notch company.
