The Scarpa Zodiac Plus GTX hiking boot has a slightly softer flex than the more mountaineering-focused Zodiac Tech boot, but it's more technical than the trail-focused R-Evolution GTX boot. With plenty of support for backpacking, the Zodiac is flexible enough for climbing in alpine environs. Perwanger leather provides extra water-resistance when hiking through mushy alpine meadows, and the rubber randing along the toe and heel offers additional protection from the rocks along the way.

- "Loved the boots. "
Unfortunately after owning them for less than two months and about 100 miles of use a quarter sized piece of the vibram sole separated from the right boot. This leaves a hole in the vibram sole that goes all the way down to and actually includes a part of the yellow EVA midsole. The process to get them repaired/replaced by Scarpa promises to be time consuming leaving me without boots for the remainder of the summer. Its really too bad because they were comfortable, fit well, had a great to-the-toe lacing system and they provided great traction on slab rock and even steep snow. Oh well, I just wish that Scarpa was a little more responsive to their customer needs.
