Alpina Alaska 75mm Ski Boot - Men's 4.3 5 3 3
Nice AT Boots... Tried the Maestrale on locally but this boot is better: stiffer flex and more power. The tongue is a bit of a hassle. I bought a size 29 which gave me a nice snug fit for my 11.5 U.S. foot. This boot seems fairly light and tours O.K. I also tried on the Dynafit Mercury but it was not as comfortable. April 17, 2014
Revival of a Classic leather telemark boot! It is nice to finally see a supportive leather tele boot on the market, long missing since plastic took over. Padding was excellent and ankle support is good. The lace lock was awkward but other than that these are nice boots, unfortunately my best size was unavailable so I had to return them. I wear an 11.5 (45) but tried the size 46. April 16, 2014
Brilliant Craftsmanship! The fit is perfect. I really like the design of the boot. I haven't skied in them yet but have skied in back country 75 mm touring boots enough to know these are going to be great for a full day of touring and excellent for turning. They are light enough for all day touring and rigid enough to make a day of turns. They are just the design I was looking for. The craftsmanship is brilliant. Can't wait to get them in the snow. P.S. Thank you Brian and staff for holding the boots until I had the resources. Leather boots aren't easy to find for us old school and new school ski tourers. These are Alpina top shelf boots. Answer:
A Birkenstock size is unlikely to correspond, or have much value in judging size in other brands.
Most companies that size their products in the European sizing system come fairly close to what might be considered a universal size translation chart. OMC does not sell Birkenstock, but upon looking at Birkenstock's own official sizing chart, their translation is quite far off from what is usually agreed on. For instance, most sizing translations put a US mens 11 at a 44.5 or a 45. Birkenstock's translate their size 45 as a US 12 to 12.5.
Best advice is to have the foot measured on a Brannock devise that uses the European scale.
